About the Office

Ron Bronson is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Urban Technology at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College. His current work includes building a consumer price index for AI spending.

Bronson spent eight years at 18F in executive and senior leadership roles, including Head of Design and Strategic Initiatives, and later served as principal senior advisor to the Deputy Commissioner of Technology Transformation Services within the Federal Acquisition Service. He co-built the platform states use to secure billions in Medicaid funding, advised senior executives at FTC, HHS, USFS, USMC, GSA, and USAF, stewarded 18F’s foundational design methods and writing guides, and established the federal government’s first dedicated service design unit.

He has led legacy modernization and digital transformation efforts for state and local governments, public-sector organizations, and companies including Nava PBC, and launched the Portland Digital Corps, a pro bono accelerator pairing technologists with Oregon nonprofits for short-term community sprints.

Bronson speaks globally on public delivery, service design, digital statecraft, and technology’s impact on public trust. He serves on the board of Portland Design Month.
